课程介绍Course description:

本课程对象为零起点学生。内容包括中文音节、语音系统、汉字书写及中国文化。学生将会全面学习中文听说读写。

This course is the beginning course for students with no background in Chinese. It will introduce students to the Chinese syllabic structure, Chinese pronunciation system, Chinese writing system and Chinese culture. Students will develop the skills to talk, read, and write in Chinese.

课程目标Goals:

通过本课程，学生不仅提高中文语言能力，而且能较好地了解中国文化。课程将通过多种教学方法实现教学目标，同时，学生有机会：

In this course, students will not only develop Chinese language skills, but also have a good understanding of Chinese cultures. We will achieve these goals in a variety of ways. Students will have the opportunity to:

1.     提高中文交流能力Develop communication skills in the Chinese language;

2.     获得并了解中国文化知识Gain knowledge and understanding of Chinese culture;

3.     通过与其母语和文化比较来理解中文和中国文化Develop insight into the nature of language and culture through comparisons with their own;

4.     掌握大约900生词及进行基本日常交流和写作Recognize a vocabulary of around 900 Chinese words for basic daily communication and writing.

在学完本课程后预计达到HSK三级水平。Students are expected to pass HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) Level 3 after finishing the course.

Developing Chinese,  Elementary Comprehensive Course I, 2nd Edition, by Jihua Rong (Beijing Language And Culture University Press, 2011).

第一课Lesson 1 : 你好Hello

Introduction to Chinese, greetings and introducing oneself; pronunciation system and characters.

Students will learn to use Chinese to exchange basic greetings, request a person’s last name and full name and provide your own, determine whether someone is a teacher or a student, and ascertain someone’s nationality.

第二课Lesson 2: 你是哪国人 Which Country Are You From

第三课Lesson 3: 你叫什么名字What’s Your Name

第四课Lesson 4: 你学习法语吗Do You Study French

第五课Lesson 5: 你家有几口人How Many People Are There in Your Family

Students will learn to use Chinese to employ basic kinship terms, describe a family photo, ask about someone’s profession and say some common professions.

Students will learn to use Chinese to tell and speak about time and dates, talk about one’s age and birthday, invite someone to dinner and arrange a dinner date.

第十七课Lesson 17：我口语和听力都很好 I’m Good at Both Speaking and Listening

 Hobbies

Students will learn to use Chinese to say and write the terms for basic personal hobbies, ask about someone’s hobbies, ask friends out to see a movie and set up plans for the weekend.

第十八课Lesson 18：我上了四个小时的网 I’ve Been on the Internet for Four Hours

 Visiting Friends

Students will learn to use Chinese to chat with friends, narrative style in Chinese.
